چکیده
Study Design and Objectives: Sugar cane production is threatened by the devastating action of larval populations Eldana saccharina Walker. Faced with this situation, search for sustainable control solutions a major challenge sugar producers. This study contributes to pest through use formulations based on essential oils local aromatic plants.
Methodology: Bioassays survival larvae were therefore conducted in laboratory at Sucrivoire site Zuénoula. The obtained from eggs, incubated 5 days reared nutritional medium then transferred empty dishes after one week. Essential hydrodistillation three plants (Cymbopogon citratus, Ocimum gratissimum Zingiber officinale) used. Five concentrations these (1000, 2000, 4000, 8000 10000-ppm) tested direct contact batches 10 total 30 larvae/concentration. Dead counted daily mortality rate was calculated 24, 48 72 hours exposure.
Results: As early as 24 hours, significant (P<0.001) 2000-ppm Cymbopogon citratus oils. They caused 63.33 80% respectively. officinale induced 4000-ppm. After exposure oils, increased significantly concentration (P<0.001). lowest lethal 50 90% (841.77 1905.06 ppm, respectively) oil gratissimum.
Conclusion: can help Walker borers better sugarcane production.

Resistance Mechanisms of South African Sugarcane to the Stalk Borer Eldana Saccharina (lepidoptera: Pyralidae): a Review
Despite plant resistance constituting one of the major defences of South African sugarcane against the stalk borer, Eldana saccharina Walker (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) (Leslie and Keeping, 1996; Keeping, 1999; Keeping and Govender, 2002), little has been published regarding the mechanisms upon which this resistance is based. This paper reviews published and unpublished information on this subject...
متن کاملBiocontrol of the sugarcane borer Eldana saccharina by expression of the Bacillus thuringiensis cry1Ac7 and Serratia marcescens chiA genes in sugarcane-associated bacteria.
The cry1Ac7 gene of Bacillus thuringiensis strain 234, showing activity against the sugarcane borer Eldana saccharina, was cloned under the control of the tac promoter. The fusion was introduced into the broad-host-range plasmid pKT240 and the integration vector pJFF350 and without the tac promoter into the broad-host-range plasmids pML122 and pKmM0. These plasmids were introduced into a Pseudo...

Four constituents o f the hair pencil secretion o f the male African sugarcane stalk borer, Eldana saccharina, having a molecular mass o f 312 and peculiar El mass spectra with an excep tionally abundant base peak at m/z 103, were isolated preparatively from an extract o f the se cretion. Using 'H and l3C N M R spectral analysis, these constituents were identified as fiveand six-membered cycl...
متن کاملSilicon reduces impact of plant nitrogen in promoting stalk borer (Eldana saccharina) but not sugarcane thrips (Fulmekiola serrata) infestations in sugarcane
The stalk borer Eldana saccharina Walker (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) is a major limiting factor in South African sugarcane production, while yield is also reduced by sugarcane thrips Fulmekiola serrata Kobus (Thysanoptera: Thripidae). Borer management options include appropriate nitrogen (N) and enhanced silicon (Si) nutrition; the effect of N on sugarcane thrips is unknown. We tested the effects ...
